Oldest Whole Medical System- Ayurveda
Ayurveda is basically made up of two words Ayur and Veda whose literary translation spells out to be knowledge of life. As it is a part of the Atharva Veda people are generally misled as they think that you need to be a religious to know and practice ayurveda. In order to understand the nuances of life and nature coupled with a healthy lifestyle one must understand the principles of Ayurveda.
For those who follow the principles of ayurveda that question and dictate the way of life, mind and spirit know that world matter arises from an element known as consciousnesses.
Every element in the earth is composed of fire, earth, water, air and space and every part of the human body is a minute representation of these five elements. Ayurveda is governed by the system of tridoshas which is made up of Vata, Pitta and Kapha and on whose foundation is based the structure of Ayurveda.

The use of the principle of the tridoshas is simple to classify the body into three parts based on the mind faculties/personalities. Though each individual on the earth is blessed with each type of dosha the influence of these doshas in a person life is not always balanced and you may find that some people boast of a higher dosha level as compared to others and in some people the level of a particular dosha is higher than the other. The three doshas that make up an individual are as follows: vata - responsible for controlling and individual, pitta - responsible for changing an individual, kapha - responsible for the making of an individual.
In order to have a positive attitude towards life we need to discover the predominant dosha and/ or the combination of doshas that will help us determine the foods and drinks that are healthy and nutritious to our lifestyle.
You may want to consult an Ayurvedic practitioner to help you check the dosha that is predominant in your body. If you do not have time to consult a doctor then you can make use of the internet where in by usage of the ayurveda almanac you will be able to pinpoint the levels of doshas in your body and thus enable you to lead a good and healthy lifestyle.
When you do this it will be easier for you to detect signs of diseases which are characterized by the fluctuations in the levels of certain dosha levels in your body. Diseases are characterized by the fluctuations of dosha levels in the body and thus by consuming the right herbs and drink prescribed to you will be able to rid yourself of the clutches of the disease.
Ayurveda for this particular reason is being considered as a complete way of life rather than just a prevalent medical science. Spiritual gurus have said that ayurveda is known as the healing side of yoga and yoga is the spiritual healing side of ayurveda. You can thus say that ayurveda is not only a whole medical system but also a science that teaches you to live in accordance with nature.
